Launched in 2012 by Founder Morgan Cros, Original Duckhead was conceptualised out of a desire to encourage everyone to embrace the great outdoors in a playful and colourful way, without having to sacrifice sustainability.
Originally Parisian born, Morgan moved to London and was perplexed (and inspired) by how much it rained in the UK. Not wanting the weather to detract from her belief in the vital link between your health and connecting with the great outdoors, the duck head umbrella was born.
The company remains committed to sustainability, which is at the forefront of everything they do, and to the disruption of the throwaway culture in the umbrella industry. To divert plastic bottles from waste streams and giving them a new life as reusable umbrellas, nine post-consumer plastic bottles are used to create the canopy for every umbrella, with surplus materials from the umbrella canopies used to create their reusable bags - the equivalent of 6 recycled plastic bottles per bag. The handles are handmade using sustainable solid birch wood.
